The brief story behind our name.
Part intention, part happy coincidence, it took us weeks to come up with the name “16 Volts”. It takes seconds to tell the story.
The intentional part
“16” is the number you get when you blend the last names of founder and Chief Product Marketer Jeff Epstein with that of his wife, who prefers to remain in the shadows. Among friends they’re know as the Sikstein’s, and this is where Jeff gets all his inspiration and motivation. But a company branded as “Sikstein Volts” sounded more like a battery manufacturer, so we went with “16” instead, which sounds the same but looks a lot cooler, don’t you think?
The coincidental part
Speaking of electrical component manufacturers, we settled on ‘Volts’ as a metaphor for power and energy, which we bring to the table for our clients. And it just so happens that 16 volts is the preferred size for drag and oval racing batteries as the extra 4 volts generate hotter sparks and run other engine components at elevated outputs. “Using a 16-volt battery and charging system is like adding a supercharger”, according to onallcylinders.com. A fitting description of what we can add to your business!
